Easy Cannabutter Mason Jar Recipe

Everybody wants to know one thing: HOW can I make cannabutter without stinking up my apartment or my house?

This is an easy, low-odor budder recipe that lets you make this cannabis staple without letting the entire neighborhood know you’re making edibles! All you need is a jar with a lid, butter, bud, time and patience.

Don’t forget to label and store in the refrigerator when you are finished.

Yields 1/2 cup of Cannabutter

*Infusing dairy fat always involves a certain amount of loss. Actual potency can and WILL vary significantly from batch to batch depending on your ingredients and methods. Keep in mind that your product may be more potent than you think. With every batch start by ingesting a smaller amount than you think you'll need, and go from there.

  • 7 grams cannabis flower
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter

  1. Mason Jar with Lid

  2. Cheesecloth & Coffee Filters

  3. Strainer

  4. Spatula

  5. Pie Pan or Baking Sheet

  6. Bowl

Decarboxylate Your Cannabis
  1. Preheat oven to 240 degrees.

  2. Grind or chop your cannabis. 

  3. Put the weed in your jar and seal the lid. Place the jar on a pie plate in the oven for 60 minutes. Every 15 minutes, 'burp' the jar (carefully open the lid just enough to vent) in a ventilated area.

Method
  1. Lower oven temp to 215 degrees.

  2. Melt the butter and add it to the Mason jar, shaking to mix well. 

  3. Continue to bake for 3 hours, shaking and burping the jar every twenty minutes. DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED

  4. The mixture WILL BE HOT. Carefully strain the mixture through cheesecloth and coffee filters to remove any sediment. Cool.

  5. Mark and store, sealed and refrigerated, out of the hands of children.

This recipe is convenient and easily scalable. In order to make in larger batches, use the following chart.

Cannabis/Butter:

3.5 grams (1/8 ounce) / 1/2 stick (1/8 cup)
7 grams (1/4 ounce) / 1 stick (1/2 cup)
14 grams (1/2 ounce) / 2 sticks (1 cup)
21 grams (3/4 ounce) / 3 sticks (1 1/2 cup)
28 grams (1 ounce) / 4 sticks (2 cups)
